Chapter 4-3 is the thirteenth level in Resident Evil 4.

Plot

Leon continues through the castle, fighting Ganados and Chainsaw Men in the Ruins and escaping the trap room. He fights off more Ganados while riding a cart, only to jump out the cart and successfully survive a literal cliffhanger. Leon obtains the Stone of Sacrifice to open the door and proceed to the elevator.

Walkthrough

After you get the Royal Insignia, you will end up back above ground. You will find a letter from Ada (sealed with a kiss) warning that Ashley is running out of time before she is fully assimilated by Las Plagas as she was injected some time before Leon. Visit the Merchant to upgrade your weapons, and sell your newly completed Salazar Family Crown.

If you go up the hill you will see a mob of Villagers. After killing them, you will encounter a door with a Lion's head that reads "Offer the sacrifice to the lion." In order to continue, you must turn a lever to reveal the Underground Ruins and head down.

In The Ruins

After you climb down, a stone tablet will tell you that "Up ahead rests the offering to the lion." Passing through the tunnel ahead, you will find several Villagers and 2 Chainsaw Men. In this room you will find the Staff of Royalty and the Key to the Mine. Unlock the door with the key and head down another tunnel. After you get through the tunnel, the door behind you will seal and the ceiling spikes trap seen earlier in Chapter 4-1 will come down. However, there is a catch this time: there will also be parasites in the room to watch out for. After surviving this trap, enter the door ahead of you to head into the next area.

Once you enter the room you will find a set of 3 carts and a lever. Jump into the carts, shoot the lever, and enjoy the ride! On your ride you will pass several platforms with 3-5 Villagers on each platform that can jump into your carts. Luckily for you they will not all land on the cart, and some will get run over. For the Villagers you do have to fight, it is highly recommended that you use a Sniper Rifle or a Chicago Typewriter. Additionally there will be planks in the way, so be careful to duck and let the Villagers take the damage instead.

Partway through, Don Esteban will pull a lever, stopping the carts. Several Villagers and another Chainsaw Man will appear to fight you. A great strategy will be to shoot Chainsaw Man before he jumps (you can do so by shooting him before the lever is pulled). Unlimited Villagers will appear until you shoot the lever, then you will take off again, and run into more Villagers and another Chainsaw Man. After defeating him, your cart will head down a spiral and a very steep curve. Jump when the cart falls and pull yourself up from the cliff. Head into the next room to collect the Stone of Sacrifice, and climb the ladder in the next room to leave the ruins.

After the Ruins

Once you exit the ruins, return to the door to put the Stone of Sacrifice in the Lion's mouth. The door will open to reveal a lift. Board the lift to end this chapter.

Further notes

• This chapter has the most Chainsaw Men (four).
• If you go down the lift you came up after Chapter 4-2 you will see the way back is blocked by the smashers.
• This chapter begins and ends on lifts.
• The door with a lion motif that requires the Stone of Sacrifice at the end of the chapter looks a lot like the door requiring the Melancholy Soul in Devil May Cry.
